It's Christmas!

Year 1 Christmas Party

Here are a few quick snaps of our fun afternoon...

We played 'Musical Statues', 'Musical Bumps' and 'Pass the Parcel'.
There was lots of dancing and laughter, plus an early surprise visit from the man in the red suit.

What a fun way to finish our first term in Year 1!

We look forward to our KS1 Carol Concert tomorrow morning and the countdown to the end of term.

Special thanks from Mrs Woolley and Mrs Page for all the lovely Christmas cards and kind gifts. They are much appreciated.

Have a wonderful Christmas holiday with family and friends.

The next time we will see each it will be 2018!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Saturday 16 December 2017

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

With December well under way, we launched into Maths Shape Day after our Elf Run Assembly! The children experimented with tangrams and made Christmas trees, candles, crackers and reindeer.

Our Year 1 Christmas Craft Afternoon last Tuesday was a lot of fun. With the help of parents and grandparents, we made cards, wrote letters to Santa, made moving Santa pictures, cellophane baubles and practised our gift wrapping skills.

Giving and receiving at Christmas

How does it feel to give and receive gifts at Christmas?

Class 1P pupils made paper rockets especially for their classmates. We have been thinking about what makes Christmas special and how Christians celebrate the festival.

A Toothless Wonders Production

Get Fit and Elfie!

Our little elves in Class 1P have worked very hard over this last fortnight.
We are very proud of all their efforts to memorise their lines, learn the songs and take part in the Elf Run.

The children even helped Emma from Brian House to count the money raised by pupils in Stanley! The current total for the collection is £344.78, with more donations from staff and pupils still to be included. We are delighted to be able to support such a brilliant local charity.

It was lovely to see children from Reception to Year 6 take part so enthusiastically in their Elf Run events. Thank you very much to all the parents, teachers and children who donated money and took the time for some Elf Fun!

Fun in the Winter Sun

The Elf Run for Years 1 and 2 was an afternoon of fun and activity. Children enjoyed Elf sprints, skipping, speed bounce, Christmas cracker relay race and a stocking throw.

With the help of our Year 6 volunteers, the Elf Sprint was a success. They helped wrap all the gift boxes and gave our infants something to chase!

Thank you to all of our pupils for taking part with such enthusiasm. Thank you very much to our families who kindly donated to Brian House Children's Hospice.

Let's hope for some more winter sun when the children in Reception, Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 enjoy their Elf Run on Monday afternoon.

Class 1P parents, we look forward to sharing a short video of today's events next Wednesday 6th December in our class assembly at 2:45pm.

Their faces say it all! An exhaustingly worthwhile afternoon... time for the weekend!

Get Fit and Elfie!

Get Fit and Elfie Class 1P Assembly

‘Get Fit and Elfie' is our assembly theme. We are supporting Brian House Children’s Hospice with donations from our Elf Run events. A representative from Brian House will be coming to share in our assembly on Wednesday 6th December and receive our school donations.

Parents are invited to our assembly on Wednesday 6th December at 2:45pm.

Dress code for the Elf Run on Friday 1st December:
Children can wear elf/ Christmas headwear (handmade or purchased) and their school uniform.

Dress for the Assembly: Your child will be receiving their part, stapled into their reading diary and this will explain what they can wear for the assembly.

Song lyrics to learn:

Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose
and if you ever saw it
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
play in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

Jingle Bells
Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh.
