Someone's been eating my porridge!

Someone's been sitting in my chair!
Someone is sleeping in my bed!

Our work on Traditional Tales continued this week with the story of
Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
We have been retelling the story and thinking about how each character feels.
Goldilocks even wrote some apology letters to the bears.

Each group took turns to act out the scenes using props, masks and puppets.

We have also been learning about verbs and
how to change some of them into the past tense by adding the suffix -ed.

Inspired by Andy Goldsworthy's Natural Sculptures

We also experimented with sculptures by using natural materials.
The children explored so many interesting ideas with their sculptures and were adapting them so quickly that just a few were photographed this time. We hope you like their work!

It's the end of another busy week with lots of super learning!

Have a good weekend.

We're Going on a Materials Hunt!

Our Science work this week was about identifying the materials that everyday objects are made from.

We explored different types of materials and discussed ways to describe them. Then we went on a materials hunt around school.

In Maths we have been learning how to count on and back  in steps of one or two.
We used hundred squares, number lines
 and counters to help us.

Who's that trip-trapping over my bridge?

In English, we're enjoying traditional tales and this week we have been reading 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'. Our readers have been using different voices for each character and working on their expression.

Finally, in Computing this term we are focusing on safe use of the internet. We have been following the episodes from Hector's World (Thinkuknow website).
The children have discussed why we do not share personal details online and how we can use the internet safely.

We watch a new episode each week, so feel free to have a look at the link below to discuss the issues with your child.

New Year, Fresh Start

Class 1P have returned all wide-eyed and bushy tailed, ready to start a new term.

We warmed up our holiday brains with number work on place value. Here are some numbers that we made this week.

This term we will be learning about the Great Fire of London.
We started our History topic by looking at London in the past and present.
